SCOPE

First sales hire, owning the full revenue cycle and building the go-to-market motion from scratch alongside the founders. Fully in-person; relocation to the New York area is required.

DESCRIPTION

  • Source, pitch and close engagements in the high five-figure ACV range with founders of venture-backed companies at growth stage
  • Act as a trusted adviser and sounding board to clients across the life of the engagement
  • Build a network among former founders with large exits behind them and recruit them into the business
  • Work directly with the founder against aggressive year-on-year revenue targets
  • Take on scope well beyond the job description and help build the go-to-market engine

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 – 8 years selling complex, high-value ($50K+ ACV) services or solutions to founder and C-suite buyers
  • Full-cycle AE experience: sourcing, pitching and closing, with average deal size above $50K
  • Experience selling something intangible — access to people rather than a product. Think consultative enterprise AI, advisory, expert networks, executive development or other ‘sell the vision’ deals.
  • Transactional SaaS with pre-packaged modules is not the right background
  • Proven record of closing deals in the $50K – $100K+ range
  • Has sold to or worked closely with founders, chief executives and C-level buyers at venture-backed companies at growth stage
  • Has worked at a fast-growing startup under roughly fifty people and helped build a go-to-market motion from an early stage
  • Based in, or willing to relocate to, the New York area — five days a week in office

WHY THEY WANT

  • Consistently a top-one or top-two rep on quota attainment
  • A student of the craft — knows the playbooks, strong at objection handling
  • Highly coachable
  • Comfortable around forceful personalities and able to hold their own with founders and chief executives without folding
  • Picks up the language of sophisticated founders and operators quickly
  • Competitive, self-directed and hungry for scope; an aggressive closer
